The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Carnegie Mellon University Africa (CMU-Africa) empowers talented young Africans to become transformative leaders and innovators. Established in 2016, the program provides comprehensive academic, financial, and leadership support to scholars, helping them drive social and economic change across the continent.

Who Can Apply:
Outstanding students from African countries who demonstrate strong academic ability, leadership potential, and a commitment to giving back to their communities.

 Full tuition and university fees
 Health insurance
 Travel and living expenses
 Application and orientation support
 Entrepreneurship and project funding
 Leadership and career development programs

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a citizen of an African country

  • Must demonstrate academic excellence and financial need

  • Show a commitment to community development.

  • Exhibit leadership potential and a desire to drive change.

  • Must first gain admission into one of CMU-Africa’s Master’s programs.

How to Apply:

  1. Apply for admission to CMU-Africa’s degree programs via the official portal.

  2. Indicate interest in the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program during your application.

  3. Complete all required documentation for both admission and scholarship consideration.
