Study with Purpose at Ku: Apply for the Madison & Lila Self Memorial Scholarship 2026–2027

The Madison & Lila Self Memorial Scholarship supports outstanding University of Kansas students who demonstrate leadership, integrity, and a commitment to advancing society through their chosen fields. The program provides funding for KU graduates continuing into a master’s or doctoral degree at the university and includes participation in in-person Scholar Development Programs designed to strengthen leadership and professional growth.

Who Can Apply?

  • Domestic and international students

  • Students earning their first bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas during the 2025–2026 academic year (fall, spring, or summer)

  • Applicants admitted to a KU master’s or doctoral program starting fall 2026

  • Full-time graduate students in their first year of graduate study (2026–2027)

  • Must be able to attend in-person Scholar Development Programs in Lawrence, Kansas

Who Cannot Apply:

  • Students enrolled part-time or in non-degree/certificate programs

  • Those already holding graduate credits at the time of application

  • Students who have received the KU Self Graduate Fellowship

  • Students unable to attend required in-person sessions

What is Covered?

The scholarship provides financial assistance for graduate study at KU (exact amount may vary yearly) and includes leadership and professional development programs that connect scholars with a strong academic and mentorship community.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Have earned or will earn their first bachelor’s degree from KU by summer 2026

  • Be admitted to a full-time master’s or doctoral program at KU

  • Begin their first year of
