Boston University’s College of Engineering is offering application fee waivers for graduate applicants (Master’s and PhD) and a strong funding package for PhD students. This initiative reduces financial barriers for applicants while guaranteeing substantial academic support for doctoral candidates.

Who Can Apply?

  • Domestic and international students applying for Master’s or PhD programs at BU College of Engineering.

What is Covered?

  • Fee Waivers: Full waiver of the application fee (one waiver per program).

  • PhD Funding:

    • 5 years of stipend support (~$41,373/year for 2024–25)

    • 100% tuition scholarship

    • Health insurance credit

    • Support via Fellowships, Research Assistantships, or Teaching Fellowships

  • Master’s Support: Merit-based tuition scholarships and alumni scholarships (competitive).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must apply for a graduate program at BU College of Engineering.

  • Waiver request must be submitted before the application submission (no refunds after paying).

  • Separate waiver requests are needed if applying to multiple programs.

  1. Create an application account at BU Engineering.

  2. Submit the Fee Waiver Request Form before submitting your program application.

  3. Apply for the graduate program by the set deadlines.

  4. PhD applicants are automatically considered for full funding; Master’s applicants may be considered for merit-based awards.

Deadlines for Fee Waiver Requests

  • Fall 2026 Early Consideration (BU ENG students only): October 8, 2025

  • Spring 2026 Master’s: October 24, 2025

  • Fall 2026 PhD: December 8, 2025

  • Fall 2026 Master’s (Priority Scholarship deadline): January 8, 2026

  • Fall 2026 Master’s (Regular deadline): March 5, 2026
