The Deutsche Welle (DW) International Traineeship is an 18-month paid training program designed for aspiring journalists worldwide. Whether you’re an experienced media enthusiast or switching from another field, DW offers world-class training in multimedia storytelling, data journalism, and international reporting.
Who Can Apply?
Open to candidates from all countries
Must hold a university degree, apprenticeship, or journalism school certificate
Prior journalism experience is a plus but not mandatory.
Applicants from all language backgrounds are encouraged (no English test required).
What’s Covered?
Monthly stipend:

€2,196 (Months 1–6)

€2,473 (Months 13–18)
International bureau placements (e.g., Washington, Delhi, Brussels)
Hands-on experience across DW’s editorial teams in Bonn & Berlin
Eligibility Criteria:

Completed degree or equivalent training before January 2027
