The ESO Internship Program 2026 offers a fully funded six-month opportunity for international students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in a world-class scientific environment. Interns will contribute to research projects in astronomy, physics, engineering, IT, and communication while based at the ESO office in Garching, near Munich.

International students and recent graduates from any country with a background in science, engineering, astronomy, IT, or science communication.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Open to all nationalities

• Must be a current student or recent graduate in science, engineering, astronomy, IT, or science communication

• Broad knowledge and interest in astronomy (stargazing, telescopes, key astronomical objects)

• Good knowledge of English and German
