The AAUW International Fellowships support non-U.S. women pursuing full-time master’s or doctoral degrees at accredited U.S. institutions. Since 1917, this program has empowered women leaders worldwide by providing funding, recognition, and a platform to apply their expertise in their home countries.
Who Can Apply?

Women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Applicants admitted or enrolled in their first master’s or doctoral program.
-
Graduate Women International members (up to 5 awards) for study outside their home country.
What is Covered?
-
$20,000 stipend for a master’s degree.
-
$25,000 stipend for a doctoral degree.
-
Renewable support for select master’s students in two-year programs.
-
Stipends disbursed in two installments during the fellowship term.
Eligibility Criteria

Identify as a woman.
-
Hold at least a U.S. bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0.

Enrolled full-time in an accredited U.S. institution (or eligible GWI program abroad).

Must begin studies by September 1, 2026, and complete on or after April 30, 2027.

Cannot hold U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or be applying for a green card.
