The Ph.D. in Journalism and Mass Communications at KU is designed to prepare students for advanced research and academic leadership in communication, media, and journalism. Who Can Apply?

• Students with a Master’s degree in journalism, mass communications, or related fields (with at least a 3.5 GPA).
• Exceptional bachelor’s degree holders may be admitted directly into the 46-hour Ph.D. program.

 What is Covered?

• Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA):
  • Salary of $24,084 (nine months, paid bi-weekly).
  • 100% tuition waiver for fall and spring semesters.
