Fully Funded Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Alu 2026 – Empowering Africa’s Next Generation of Changemakers

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the African Leadership University (ALU) empowers talented young Africans to overcome financial and social barriers to higher education. In partnership with the Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works Strategy, this initiative aims to equip 30 million young Africans—especially women—with the skills and opportunities to secure dignified and fulfilling work by 2030.

Since 2020, ALU has enrolled 768 Mastercard Foundation Scholars from 32 African countries, with a focus on young women (68%), refugees/displaced persons (19%), and differently-abled students (1%).

Who Can Apply?

  • Citizens of African countries
  • Young women, refugees, and differently-abled youth are strongly encouraged.
  • Applicants who demonstrate leadership potential, academic excellence, and a drive to create positive impact
  • Must be unable to afford quality education without financial support
