The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) is a prestigious, fully funded program by the Korean government. It offers international students the opportunity to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Korea, promoting academic exchange and building lasting friendships between Korea and participating countries.
Who Can Apply?
- International students (non-Korean citizens)
- Applicants 18–25 years old
- High school graduates (or those expecting to graduate before the program starts)
- Students with excellent academic standing (80% percentile or higher)
What is Covered?
- Full tuition fees
- Monthly living stipend
- Round-trip airfare
- Korean language training (1 year, if required)
- Medical insurance
- Settlement & research support allowances
Eligibility Criteria
- Must not hold Korean citizenship (single nationality only)
- Dual nationality with Korea is not allowed
- Age: 18–25 years old
- Completed (or about to complete) high school education
- No prior receipt of another Korean Government scholarship
- Must be in good physical and mental health (to pass required medical checks)
- No criminal record
- Strong academic performance (minimum 80% percentile or higher)
How to Apply?
- Choose application track:
- Embassy Track (apply through the Korean Embassy in your country)
- University Track (apply directly to a designated Korean university)
- Submit all required documents: application form, personal statement, study plan, academic transcripts, recommendation letters, proof of nationality, medical assessment, etc.
- Shortlisted candidates undergo screening, interviews, and language evaluations.
- Final selection is announced by NIIED (National Institute for International Education, Korea).
