The DAAD AgEcon Scholarship, funded by the German Government, offers outstanding students from developing countries the opportunity to pursue Master’s or Doctoral studies in Germany. This prestigious program supports future leaders in economics, agriculture, and development-related fields.


 Who Can Apply?

  • Citizens of developing countries
  • Applicants pursuing a Master’s or PhD in development-related fields (e.g., Agricultural Economics, Economics, Development Studies)

 What is Covered?

  • Full tuition fees
  • Monthly stipend to cover living expenses
  • Travel allowance
  • Health insurance
  • Research and study grants
  • Possible family allowances (where applicable)

 Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a citizen of a developing country
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with above-average results
  • Academic degree must be less than 6 years old at the time of application
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience post-Bachelor’s (teaching/research roles usually not accepted, except in rare cases)
  • Must not have resided in Germany for more than 15 months by the deadline
  • Demonstrate clear development-related motivation and career intentions
  • Provide proof of English proficiency (IELTS 6.5+ overall or TOEFL iBT 90+) in line with admission requirements

 How to Apply?

  1. Select an eligible DAAD-supported Master’s or PhD program in Germany.
  2. Prepare application documents: CV (Europass format), motivation letter, degree certificates, transcripts, recommendation letters, proof of work experience, language test scores, and research proposal (if PhD).
  3. Submit applications directly to the chosen program/university and through the DAAD portal (when required).
  4. Await selection results from both the university and DAAD.
