The Rhodes Scholarship for West Africa offers exceptional students from 16 West African countries the chance to pursue fully funded postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford. This world-renowned award covers tuition, living expenses, and travel, while providing scholars with leadership training and a lifelong global network.
Who Can Apply?
Citizens or legal residents of West African countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Saint Helena, Senegal, Sierra Leone, São Tomé and Principe, and Togo.
What is Covered?

Full tuition fees at the University of Oxford

Travel costs to and from Oxford at the start and end of the program

Eligibility Criteria:

Hold citizenship or legal residency in an eligible West African country.

Aged between 19 and 25 on 1 October 2025 (some exceptions for older candidates)

Have completed, or be on track to complete, an undergraduate degree with a high academic standing (sufficient for Oxford admission)

Meet the English language proficiency requirements of the University of Oxford.
