Chevening is the UK Government’s flagship international scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations. It offers outstanding future leaders from around the world the opportunity to pursue a fully funded master’s degree in the UK while building a powerful global network.

Who Can Apply?

  • Citizens of a Chevening-eligible country (including Nigeria).

  • Individuals with leadership qualities and a track record of professional achievement.

  • Candidates ready to return to their home country for at least two years after completing their studies.

What is Covered?

  • Full university tuition fees

  • Monthly living stipend

  • Travel costs to and from the UK

  • Arrival and departure allowances

  • One UK visa application fee

  • Travel grant for official Chevening events in the UK

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country.

  • Commit to returning to your home country for a minimum of two years after study.

  • Hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies you for a UK master’s programme.

  • Have at least 2,800 hours (≈2 years) of work experience gained after graduation.

  • Apply to three eligible UK master’s courses and secure an unconditional offer from at least one by the specified deadline.

  • Must not:

    • Hold British or dual British citizenship (exceptions apply).

    • Have studied in the UK before on a UK government-funded scholarship.

    • Be an employee or close relative of UK government institutions (some exceptions for Chevening Partners).
