The SAE Doctoral Engineering Scholarship supports outstanding graduate students pursuing a Master’s or Doctorate in engineering who aspire to become university-level engineering educators. Funded by an external donor, this scholarship recognizes academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to advancing engineering education.
Who Can Apply?
U.S. residents enrolled in a master’s or doctoral engineering program at a U.S. university who intend to pursue a career in teaching engineering at the university level.
What is Covered?

Scholarship amount: $15,000 (subject to change)

Funds can be used for tuition or other educational expenses.
Eligibility Criteria:

Must be a U.S. resident

Enrolled in a master’s or doctoral engineering program in the U.S.

Minimum GPA: 3.5 or above

Must show leadership skills through SAE’s Collegiate Design Series, SAE student chapter, or community/extracurricular activities

Submit the following documents:

College transcript

GRE score (if taken)

Two letters of recommendation

Personal statement explaining goals and motivation for teaching engineering

How to Apply:
Applicants must submit all required documents (transcript, GRE, recommendations, and personal statement) to the SAE Scholarship Committee via the SAE International scholarship portal. Selection is based on academic merit, leadership, and commitment to teaching.
Deadline:
Applications close by the end of June every year.
