Rice University is offering application fee waivers for doctoral applicants during the Fall 2026 admissions cycle. Alongside waived fees, Rice provides extensive financial support to graduate students, including tuition waivers, stipends, assistantships, and internal/external funding opportunities.

Who Can Apply?
Domestic and international applicants applying for doctoral programs at Rice (excluding the Jones Graduate School of Business).

What is Covered?

  • Application fee waiver (during Oct 14–Nov 1, 2025)

  • Full tuition waiver (for most doctoral programs)

  • Annual stipends ($36,000–$40,000; up to $43,000 for business PhD students)

  • Research/teaching assistantships

  • Travel, enrichment, and professional development grants

  • Emergency and low-interest loans (if needed)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent)

  • Must request fee waiver between Oct 14 – Nov 1, 2025 (while supplies last)

  • Submit completed doctoral application by Nov 27, 2025, 10:59 p.m. CST

  • GRE/TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo scores may be submitted after Nov 27 (before departmental deadlines)

  • Business programs (Jones School) are not eligible for the waiver but still offer full PhD funding.
